​​​New Student Researcher and Parent Orientation
​
We are very excited to meet you and your parents during New Student Orientation. We have an outstanding program designed to welcome you and walk you through the administrative basics, research pre-work, on boarding, advisor selection process and research expectations.
​
Orientation Goals:
​
1. Gain an understanding of general ASDRP requirements and semester schedule
​
2. Review the research pre-work requirements
​
3. Understand how to select or be placed in an ASDRP research lab
​
4. Ease the transition by addressing common concerns and setting expectations
​
5. Connect parents and students to the incredible resources available at ASDRP
​
Who is required to attend? All new students who live in the San Francisco Bay Area are required to attend an in-person orientation session.​
​
How do I register for Orientation? One you have activated your ASDRP email & G Suite account. You will receive an Orientation registration invitation email to your ASDRP Account.

2. Complete the Onboarding Documents
​
3. Receive and activate ASDRP Email
​
4. Email is sent to you to register for an orientation session.
​
5. Orientation confirmation message with QR code that we scan when you arrive.​​​​​​​​​

Who gets the check-in ticket with QR code? The check-in ticket with QR code is sent to new students and a copy of the ticket is sent to parents. The QR code is only for new students. Parents do not have a separate check-in QR code. New students have their check-in ticket QR codes scanned upon arrival at the Gillmor Center.

This session will occur at the ASDRP Campus
Check In: New Students will have their check-in ticket QR code scanned for entry to orientation. Students who fail to attend (check-in) orientation will not be permitted to begin pre-work.

Arrive on time: Please do not be late. You do not need to bring anything besides yourself and your check-in QR code. Orientation sessions are not recorded. Take notes and review them later.​
Location of Orientation: 46309 Warm Springs Blvd. Fremont, CA 94539 (no parking fee is required)
+ Online Orientation - Wednesday, May 20

It will be done remote via Zoom | Join link is sent to registered students on the day of the event. There is no QR Code check-in

New student researchers who have registered for orientation chose from one of the three sessions listed below. Your QR Code message indicates the session for which you are registered. ​

Early Morning Session Your check-in ticket indicates 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Early Morning Student and Parent Orientation Session
10:30 AM - 12 :30 PM Advisor Spotlight Faculty Talks

Morning Session Your check-in ticket indicates 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Morning Student and Parent Orientation Session
10:30 AM - 12 :30 PM Advisor Spotlight Faculty Talks
