  Summer 2026 Orientation  

 

New Student Researcher and Parent Orientation

We are very excited to meet you and your parents during New Student Orientation. We have an outstanding program designed to welcome you and walk you through the administrative basics, research pre-work, on boarding, advisor selection process and research expectations. 

Orientation Goals:

1. Gain an understanding of general ASDRP requirements and semester schedule

2. Review the research pre-work requirements

3. Understand how to select or be placed in an ASDRP research lab

4. Ease the transition by addressing common concerns and setting expectations

5. Connect parents and students to the incredible resources available at ASDRP

Who is required to attend? All new students who live in the San Francisco Bay Area are required to attend an in-person orientation session.

How do I register? You will receive an Orientation registration invitation email to your ASDRP Account.

After completing all of the following steps:

1. Acceptance 

2. Onboarding Documents

3. Receive and activate ASDRP Email

4. Register for orientation

5. Orientation confirmation message with QR code that we scan when you arrive.

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Morning Student and Parent Orientation Session

10:30 AM - 12 :30 PM  Advisor Spotlight Faculty Talks (schedule to come soon!)

12:30 - 2:00 PM Afternoon Student and Parent Orientation​ Session

Day of Orientation

Check In: Show your QR code for entry to orientation. Students who fail to attend (check-in) orientation will not be permitted to begin pre-work.

Arrive on time:  Please do not be late. You do not need to bring anything besides yourself and your check-in QR code. Orientation sessions are not recorded. Take notes and review them later.

​​

Schedule: New Students and Parents have their own orientation sessions. Orientation covers pre-work, summer schedule, Canvas, communication protocols, expectations, joining a lab and more!

 

Location of Orientation: Mission College, Gillmor Center | Parking Lot D only​​​​​​​​​​

+ Out of Bay Area Only - Wednesday, May 20

This is an exclusive event for students and families who live out of the Bay Area Only. If you live in the Greater Bay Area you are required to attend in-person Orientation.

emote via Zoom | Join link is sent to registered students on the day of the event.
